The Shift Diagnostics Suite

Read the shift before it stalls your strategy.

Five diagnostics, one system — from the direction you’re aiming at, to how a live change is landing on every person carrying it.

Change is the event. Shift is the work. The Suite measures the shift.

Why measure the shift

Most change doesn’t fail at the plan. It fails at reading what people need, when they need it.

A sound plan can still produce fatigue, volatility, and regression — because people don’t respond only to plans. They respond to the experience those plans create. When that experience runs into friction, most leaders reach for a familiar move:

“We need to communicate more.” “We need to move faster.” “We need more accountability.” “We need better process.”

Those moves are rarely wrong. They’re rarely precise enough. The friction is almost always being driven by a specific layer of experience — and responding at the wrong layer multiplies it. The Suite is how you read the layer before you act — so the next move is the one most likely to help.

One system

Five diagnostics, one arc.

Each answers a different question — and together they run from the whole organization’s strategy down to the single person carrying the change.

Organization strategy  →  organizational readiness  →  a change in flight  →  the individual

Two ways in

Run inside an engagement — or put it in your people’s hands.

For your organization · facilitated

Diagnose the org, with a partner in the room

Four instruments run inside an IPL engagement — facilitated, interpreted, and turned into the moves that matter.

  • Shift Compass — set the direction
  • Strategy-Fit — test the fit against it
  • Condition-Strength — measure readiness to execute
  • Our Shift Journey — see how a live change is landing

Best when a real business shift is underway — a transformation, restructure, integration, or growth push where the people side is what’s stalling it.

For your people · self-serve

My Shift Atlas™, licensed for your team

Every change-readiness tool on the market asks about one change. This one asks about all of them — because carrying six shifts is not carrying one, six times.

  • Ten minutes, self-serve — no facilitator in the room
  • A private read for each person: what’s draining them most, and the one move that helps
  • You see the pattern by role and area — never an individual, never below eight people
  • Licensed to your organization by the seat

If your people could be identified in it, no one would answer honestly — so no individual drill-down exists. That’s why it works.

What you walk away with

A framework underneath — not a personality quiz.

Every diagnostic returns a concrete read you can act on, built on IPL’s trademarked Shift Leadership™ model. A few of the outputs:

The Conditions wheel

Each of the six conditions scored on one strength ladder — from liability to best-in-class — with the gap to your target.

Current vs. needed

Strategy-Fit’s 24 dimensions plotted where you operate today against where the strategy needs you — the shift, made visible.

The Transition Personas grid

Where each person sits on a live change — nine research-based patterns — and what support actually fits each one.

Alignment, measured

Not just the average — whether your people share a picture or live in two camps. The disagreement is often the finding.

The one move

My Shift Atlas names the loudest source of friction for each person and the single lever most likely to turn it into traction.

A read that re-reads

These aren’t one-and-done. As the shift moves, you re-run and watch what changed — trajectory, not a snapshot.

Why IPL

Built by operators, not observers.

The methodology emerged from inside organizations at the moment of shift — practice, made transferable. The diagnostics are that practice, instrumented.

How it works

Three steps, low risk.

1

Choose a starting point

Not sure which diagnostic fits? That’s the discovery call. We start where your shift is actually stuck — direction, readiness, a live change, or your people’s load.

2

Run it

Facilitated with an IPL partner, or self-serve for My Shift Atlas. Most run in days, not months — a survey your team can complete in minutes.

3

Get the read — and the moves

A clear diagnosis, then the specific moves most likely to help. Come back as the shift moves, and it re-reads.

One discipline runs through all of it:  DETECT → UNLOCK → CHOOSE → ACT → LEARN

Questions

Before you reach out.

What’s the difference between the five diagnostics?
They sit on one arc. Shift Compass sets your strategic direction. Strategy-Fit tests how well your design and culture fit that direction. Condition-Strength measures how ready you are to execute. Our Shift Journey shows how a specific, live change is landing across your people. My Shift Atlas turns the lens on the individual — how one person is navigating all the changes they carry at once.
Facilitated or self-serve — which is which?
The four organizational diagnostics run inside an IPL engagement, facilitated and interpreted with a partner in the room. My Shift Atlas is self-serve: each person completes it themselves in about ten minutes, with no facilitator needed — while the organization licenses it by the seat.
How long does a diagnostic take?
The surveys themselves take participants minutes, not hours. A facilitated organizational read typically runs over days to a couple of weeks depending on scope — fielding, then a working session on what it found. My Shift Atlas is immediate: a person runs it whenever their changes move.
Who sees the results?
For the organizational diagnostics, results are shared and worked through with your leadership as part of the engagement. My Shift Atlas is different by design: each person’s own read is private to them, and the organization only ever sees patterns across groups — cut by role level and business area, and never reported below eight people. There is no individual drill-down, no export, no screen that produces one. If people could be identified, they wouldn’t answer honestly.
How do we bring My Shift Atlas to our team?
It’s licensed to your organization as an annual per-seat subscription — each seat is a full year of unlimited use, so people re-run their atlas as their changes shift. Cohort reporting unlocks the cuts by role and area once you have enough participants. Book a call and we’ll size it to your team.
We’ve used Prosci or Kotter. How is this different?
Those prescribe a sequence. The Shift Leadership model is a diagnostic discipline — it teaches you to read what’s actually driving friction, in the moment, and respond with precision. The diagnostics are how you read it. Two teams that look identical on paper get different moves, because a different thing is stalling each of them.
